First round takes over at the U.S. Open

The U.S. Open first round is the day's main attraction, with the men's and women's draws in action from early to late.

The U.S. Open is the centrepiece of the day. Both the ATP and WTA draws are in their first round in New York, with most of the singles fields still to play. A handful of Challenger events are also on the schedule, on hard courts and clay.

The matches the model rates highest are spread through the day, from the early session into the evening. The picks it calls near-even are among the more interesting openers on the card. Earlier, the tournaments in Winston-Salem and Monterrey finished for the day.
